How To Tighten A Sew-in Weave

MiniHOWTO: Upgrade to Lenny to Sid and troubleshooting

What I usually do in an afternoon of boredom? Messed up my pc of course!
Yesterday afternoon I thought it good to switch to Debian Sid and what did I do? I open the file sources.list) in / etc / apt and I replaced with a sid lenny, then I did an apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade. Luck would have it the grub2 crashes and reboot of course the odious error 15. Do not panic, you try a live, I found one of Ubuntu and I typed in the terminal grub-install / dev / sda. There 's been too well (I said), I read about cases you do not get so easily, but when you restart the computer game only in text mode. Then login as user, startx and here is the graphical interface but how to restore the graphical login? I read a lot but nothing, was not the X server does not work. I open synaptic and go to check if GDM (Gnome Display Manager) is installed: it was not! And were not many other things, like gedit for example, my solitary pysol, amsn, the wireless (but I expected).
As I have gone all this stuff? I really do not know.
install everything in synaptic, but I resolve to pysol SourgeForge up but with so much effort because I have tried other avenues without success. Compile and go. I try to install
