This morning I installed the new version of OpenOffice, I still had the 2.4 that, for my proverbial laziness I would not be replaced. I then downloaded the 3.2 for Debian and Ubuntu, I unpacked, I deleted the version I had, you can do
# Synaptic or apt-get remove openoffice *.*
is also to be removed from the home directories manually (remember that are hidden!) and then from terminal of course, I installed the new one. see the steps.
# tar xvf package name (or double icon)
# cd # cd DEB package name
# dpkg-i *. deb
After that right on the Applications menu Edit --- --- Office --- select everything about OpenOffice and the 'I removed it.
At this point I installed the packages found in / DEB/desktop-integration/openoffice.org3.2-debian-menus_3.2-9502_all.deb
I did it with the right button and gdebi.
not over yet: right click on files and OpenOffice and click properties and selected open with OpenOffice 3.2. Just do it on a type.
As always quick and easy.
